TTF: On the 9th of October 2018, Tony Pua alleged that Khazanah Nasional Bhd and Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) would review and offload several “non-strategic assets” as part of Putrajaya’s fiscal consolidation measures.
Does that not strike you as weird?
Tell me, how could Pua be the one to issue such statements, given that he’s neither a member of the Malaysian Cabinet nor holds any position in Khazanah or PNB?
And why in blazes should we trust him in the first place?
Let’s not forget, that this guy was a member of the Parliamentary Accounts Committee (PAC) that, despite having put 1MDB under the microscope, failed to establish wrongdoing on Najib’s part.
It follows, that irrespective of what transpires next, Pua lied to voters prior to the general election by implying that he had evidence to prove Najib’s involvement in a scam to siphon billions from 1MDB.
If indeed he had proof, the onus would have been on him to present that proof to the PAC while the committee was conducting probes into the fund.
The fact that he didn’t goes a long way to show just how determined the DAP was to destabilise Barisan Nasional in an effort to destroy UMNO and split the Malays.
People like Lim Kit Siang found it expedient to work with Dr Mahathir Mohamad seeing that the latter was determined to oust Najib.
Kit Siang knew that Mahathir needed the DAP in his bid to wrest control of government as much as the DAP needed him in its bid to destabilise UMNO.
When you consider that the UMNO voter base comprises primarily of the Malays and that the DAP voter base consists almost entirely of the Chinese, you will see just how and why the senior Lim successfully turned GE14 into “a quest by the Chinese to keep the Malays split.”
People like Pua are simply manifestations of this quest.
Together with Kit Siang, he went on ‘roadshows’ to demonise Najib, as he knew, that GE14 was the DAP’s last leg towards GE15, an election that will see the greatest number of Malay youths in history deciding who gets to be the future government of Malaysia.
The DAP is aware that the Malay youth knows very little about our history and can easily be manipulated into thinking that Kit Siang was godsend.
KUALA LUMPUR: Tony Pua’s statement on the sale of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) assets does not represent the government’s official stance.
Deputy Economic Affairs Minister Mohd Radzi Md Jidin emphasised that despite the government being open to such views, the statement does not represent the government in regards to the issue.
“I take note of the statement Damansara (PH-DAP – Pua), however that is his personal view and not from the government.
“We will wait for the government’s decision on sale of the assets if there is a need for it,” he said when answering a supplementary question from Awang Hashim (PAS-Pendang) at the Dewan Rakyat today.
Awang had asked on the government’s official stance following Pua’s Oct 10 statement that Khazanah Nasional Bhd (Khazanah) and PNB would review and offload non-strategic assets as part of the government’s efforts to pay off the country’s debt.
However, Pua who is Finance Minister’s political secretary, had clarified yesterday that any sale of government assets to resolve the national debt would not involve sale of assets under PNB.
During today’s Parliamentary session, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Rahman (BN UMNO-Pasir Salak) had questioned Pua’s position and capacity for constantly acting as the government’s spokesperson and confusing the people, especially when it comes to the country’s economy.
Before Tajuddin managed to finish his question, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof interjected and asked the former not to divert from the main topic.
“Oral question and answer session must be on the question raised,” he said.
Ariff’s attempt to impose order was foiled by Tajuddin who was relentless in the matter.
Radzi then stood up and responded: “I think there is no need to comment over the matter.”
