“We don’t really know if Chin Peng’s ashes were truly brought in. Perhaps the DAP contrived the whole thing as a diversion to shift conversations away from the LTTE and Tanjung Piai”

The DAP is believed to have orchestrated the ‘smuggling’ of Chin Peng’s ashes into Malaysia to shift conversations away from its flagging popularity and news of its leaders’ involvement in covert operations to revive the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in Malaysia.
According to an insider, it might also have to do with the party leadership’s conviction that the 15thgeneral election (GE15), constitutionally due in 2023, may be called for by the first quarter of next year, perhaps even in March.
But why use Chin Peng’s ashes?
Chin Peng has been a source of contention since before the 14thgeneral election (GE14). Lim Kit Siang made an importuned plea to the Government of Malaysia (GoM) as early as 2013 itself to allow the communist leader’s ashes to be brought into Malaysia. Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak was completely against the idea and even referred to Chin Peng as a terrorist. Calls for the communist leader’s ashes to be brought into Malaysia infuriated Muslims as it was thought to be an insult to the families of slain polirical leaders, commoners, police personnel and members of the armed forces, the majority of whom were Muslims butchered by Chin Peng’s men.
But that was all the DAP needed, as the objective was to demonstrate just how intolerant Muslims were when it came to the Chinese. The DAP’s modus operandi had always been to portray the Malay-Muslims as extremists and fanatics, which explains why the party played up the Allah issue and censured PAS for wanting to expand the jurisdiction of the Syariah Courts. By bringing Chin Peng’s ashes into Malaysia, the DAP could trigger Muslims into retaliation so that it can ‘remind’ the Chinese what it means to support anything associated with UMNO and (or) PAS, two parties it desperately wants to portray as being led by extremists and fanatics.
What has all this got to do with LTTE?
Mahathir has cornered the DAP by demonstrating just how powerful he is. If indeed the DAP is in control of government and if Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim really has numbers on his side, Mahathir would surely not have been able to survive even a day after the LTTE arrests. Everyone who is anyone knows that Anwar would long have sought an audience with the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong if indeed he had the numbers. The fact that Mahathir is still around weeks after the arrests proves that the numbers aren’t sufficient and that the DAP is at its weakest since GE14.
This is precisely what the DAP and Anwar do not want you to see. The Tanjung Piai debacle was an act of sabotage (see video below) and supposed to be an opportunity for Anwar to pressure Mahathir into retirement. But when the old man refused to budge, it became a big problem as people began to notice just how much in control Mahathir was. So, to shift conversations away from the obvious, the DAP could have orchestrated the ‘smuggling’ in of Chin Peng’s ashes to help reverse some of the damage Tanjung Piai and the LTTE arrests caused the party.

Were those really Chin Peng’s ashes?
Your guess is as good as mine. For all you know, nobody brought anything in and simply cooked up a story about the communist’s ashes being brought here. Tell me, how could people manning the border outposts know for sure those were Chin Peng’s ashes?
