The Star Online reports that a special Dewan Rakyat sitting will be convened on the 2nd of March 2020 to determine who will be the next prime minister, says Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The NST Online, on the other hand, quoted Mahathir as saying the Agong met Members of Parliament because he wanted them to make their stand individually.
TTF is made to understand that the reason the Agong met said MPs, among others, was to verify the authenticity of the SDs they submitted.
Assuming that there were contradictions between what was submitted and what the MPs told the Aong individually, however trivial, a ‘third platform’ would then need to vote on premiership.
This is probably what the 2nd of March 2020 sitting is all about. It is highly likely that Mahathir will obtain a clear majority.
PUTRAJAYA: The Star Online reports that a special Dewan Rakyat sitting will be convened on the 2nd of March 2020 to determine who will be the next prime minister, says Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
According to the daily, the Interim Prime Minister said this was the conclusion of his meeting with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at the Istana Negara on Thursday, the 27th of February 2020.
The NST Online, on the other hand, quoted Mahathir as saying the Agong met Members of Parliament because he wanted them to make their stand individually.
“The King, as you know, has asked all the members of Parliament to make a statement because they had made a statutory declaration… But the King is not sure and that he wants them (the MPs) to make their statement in front of him,” he said.
The Star further wrote that Mahathir said if the Dewan Rakyat failed to determine who should be prime minister, a snap election would be called.
He also confirmed that he had decided to become Bersatu chairman again.
When asked whether Bersatu would rejoin Pakatan, Dr Mahathir he had to consult the party first.
“I have to find out what the members think, ” he said.
