Over the decades, Lim Kit Siang carved a name for himself in the business of “fighting corrupt UMNO leaders,” exhibiting a never-say-die attitude when it came to making a public spectacle of UMNO leaders saying and doing stupid things.
Yet, when Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim appointed Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as his deputy, Kit Siang developed foot-in-mouth disease and found it excruciatingly difficult to say “Anwar” and “Zahid” in one sentence.
Had it not been for the disease, Kit Siang would probably have written volumes and volumes on Zahid’s alleged involvement in the LCS scandal and reports linking the UMNO number one to a British Virgin Islands (BVI) firm involved in offshore financial transactions.

All the scandals, all the corruption, and yet, Anwar went ahead and appointed Zahid – who, apart from the scandals, is facing 47 criminal charges – as his deputy.
Before the 15th general election, all Anwar could think of was the need to conduct a discovery into a Pandora report that linked Zahid and several other Malaysian politicians with clandestine offshore holdings.
Suddenly, there is no more mention of the Pandora report or the need to investigate the extent of Zahid’s involvement in the LCS scandal.
Why is Kit Siang silent?
Why so gung-ho about Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, a man who is already serving jail-time, when the government’s current number two is a criminal suspect?
Has Kit Siang entered a deal with Zahid and Anwar that we need to know about?
Does this have to do with the fact that Kit Siang’s own son is facing corruption charges?
