Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz said today that the second phase of restrictions under the National Recovery Plan will still represent a stringent enforcement of the movement control order, with curbs on social activities and restrictions on movement as in the first phase.
Here itself we find glaring holes in his statement, beginning with the claim that the enforcement of the present Movement Control Order, dubbed “Total Lockdown” by government, is “a stringent enforcement”of the order.
On the first day of the Total Lockdown (1st of June 2021), we had 7,105 Covid-19 cases. On the 14th day (14th of June 2021), we had 4,949 cases. Yesterday, five days into the third week of the Total Lockdown, we had 5,911 cases.
Is this not clear proof that the Total Lockdown and National Recovery Plan has already failed?
PETALING JAYA: Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz said today that the second phase of restrictions under the National Recovery Plan will still represent a stringent enforcement of the movement control order, with curbs on social activities and restrictions on movement as in the first phase.
Speaking at a virtual media conference as reported by Free Malaysia Today, Zafrul said the main differences between Phase 1 and Phase 2 would be the increase in physical capacity allowed, from 60% to 80% for certain permitted sectors, and the addition of more sectors to the “positive list” of sectors that will be allowed to continue operations.
Here itself we find glaring holes in his statement, beginning with the claim that the enforcement of the present Movement Control Order, dubbed “Total Lockdown” by government, is “a stringent enforcement”of the order.
One can’t help but to wonder;
1. Since when has Tengku Zafrul been put in charge of explaining the government’s so-called “National Recovery Plan?”
2. When is the government going to admit that the present day “Total Lockdown” is far less stringent than the first MCO, back when daily Covid-19 figures had not even hit the 500 mark?
3. Does this not make the use of the term “Total Lockdown” a complete farce?
5. How can Zafrul account for the fact that MITI allowed more than 128,000 companies, some non-essential, to operate barely three days into the first phase of the Total Lockdown?
6. Is Zafrul aware that a petition demanding that Datuk Seri Azmin Ali resign has garnered over 200,000 signatures?
