DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang has been whacking government left, right and centre these past few weeks, and recently, claimed that the reason Pakatan Harapan fared badly during the Sarawak state election had to do with low voter turnout.
Wait…what?
Did it not occur to the senior Lim that the reason for the drop in voter turnout may have had something to do with voter disgust for Pakatan Harapan, the only viable alternative to GPS?
When voters are happy with an existing ruling party or coalition and feel disgusted with the only viable alternative, lesser people will go out to vote.
Sarawakians are happy with Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PPBB), Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) for dissociating themselves from Barisan Nasional.
It is what the people want, and the 14th general election was proof of that.
Every Tom, Dick and Harry knows that people were sick and tired of Barisan Nasional for the rise in cost of living, the 1MDB scandal and its Kleptocracy which Kit Siang himself condemned.
Pakatan Harapan, on the other hand, went from defeating Barisan Nasional to discussing the possibility of working together.
Put another way, the PPBB, SUPP, PRS and PDP collective (now GPS) moved away from the Kleptocrats for the sake of the rakyat, while the DAP and PKR betrayed the rakyat by getting closer to the Kleptocrats, the very Kleptocrats they defeated during the 14th general election.
Did Kit Siang miss this?
The Sarawak election should have been a breeze for Pakatan Harapan since it was the first time the Barisan Nasional logo did not make an appearance.
But because Pakatan Harapan betrayed the trust of the people, GPS became Hobson’s choice, being the only coalition that respected the will of the people.
Besides, Pakatan Harapan did the most foolish thing by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to make sure Barisan Nasional stays in power, making voting for Pakatan Harapan akin to “voting for a Barisan Nasional proxy.”
Can the senior Lim deny this?
Of course, many have pointed out that Anwar is the reason PKR got wiped out in Sarawak.
Not only is this true, signs that voters reject him first became apparent in Sabah, where Anwar failed to rake in additional support for PKR despite announcing that the majority in the Dewan Rakyat supported his premiership bid.
Come to think of it, PKR practically got wiped out in Sabah, as opposed to WARISAN, which performed way better than it did in 2018 despite voicing support for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Tell me, is this not a clear sign that voters still want Mahathir to return as Prime Minister, and proof that Pakatan Harapan succeeded in becoming government because of Mahathir, not Anwar?
But wait, was it not Kit Siang who recently said that he did not see Mahathir returning as Prime Minister for the third time around?
Foot in mouth disease, no?

Lim Kit Siang mendakwa punca Pakatan Harapan kena belasah di pilihan raya negeri Sarawak ada kaitannya dengan peratusan keluar mengundi yang rendah.
Apa??
Apakah Kit Siang terlepas pandang bahawa punca sebenar penurunan peratusan yang keluar mengundi mungkin ada kaitan dengan rasa jijik pengundi terhadap Pakatan Harapan, satu-satunya alternatif yang boleh dipertimbangkan selain GPS?
Apabila pengundi gembira dengan parti atau gabungan yang memerintah dan jijik dengan satu-satunya alternatif yang ada, sudah pasti jumlah yang keluar mengundi akan berkurang.
Rakyat Sarawak gembira dengan Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PPBB), Parti Rakyat Bersatu Sarawak (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) dan Parti Demokratik Progresif (PDP) kerana parti-parti ini memisahkan diri mereka daripada Barisan Nasional selepas pilihan raya umum ke-14.
Itulah yang rakyat mahukan, dan pilihan raya umum ke-14 adalah bukti bahawa rakyat sudah muak dengan Barisan Nasional disebabkan kos sara hidup yang meningkat, skandal 1MDB dan Kleptokrasi UMNO.
Pakatan Harapan, sebaliknya, beralih daripada mengalahkan Barisan Nasional “demi rakyat” kepada berbincang dengan Kleptokrat tentang kemungkinan terbentuknya “Jajaran Politik Baharu.”
Dengan kata lain, PPBB, SUPP, PRS dan PDP (yang kini bergabung di bawah bumbung GPS) menjauhkan diri daripada Kleptokrat demi rakyat, manakala DAP dan PKR mengkhianati rakyat dengan mendekati Kleptokrat yang ditentangnya satu ketika dulu
Adakah Kit Siang terlepas pandang perkara ini?
Pakatan Harapan seharusnya menang lebih banyak kerusi di di Pilihan Raya Negeri Sarawak baru-baru ini berbanding 2016 memandangkan ini adalah kali pertama logo Barisan Nasional tidak muncul.
Tetapi disebabkan Pakatan Harapan mengkhianati kepercayaan rakyat, GPS menjadi pilihan rakyat, kerana GPS merupakan satu-satunya gabungan yang menghormati kehendak rakyat.
Malah, pengundi Sarawak melihat Pakatan Harapan sebagai “proksi Barisan Nasional” setelah gabungan itu menandatangani Memorandum Persefahaman (MoU) bersama kerajaan untuk memastikan Barisan Nasional kekal berkuasa.
Adakah Kit Siang berani menafikan kebenaran ini?
Ramai mendakwa bahawa Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim menjadi punca PKR hangus di medan pilihan raya Sarawak.
Sebenarnya, tanda-tanda penolakan pengundi terhadap Anwar sudah mula kelihatan di Sabah, di mana beliau gagal meraih sokongan tambahan buat PKR biarpun mengumumkan sokongan majoriti ahli-ahli parlimen terhadap dirinya sebagai calon Perdana Menteri.
Sebaiknya, WARISAN menunjukkan prestasi yang jauh lebih baik berbanding 2018 walaupun presidennya secara terbuka menyuarakan sokongan terhadap Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Bukankah ini petanda jelas bahawa pengundi masih mahu Mahathir kembali sebagai Perdana Menteri, dan bukti bahawa Pakatan Harapan tidak mungkin berjaya pada Pilihan Raya Umum ke-14 kalau bukan kerana Mahathir?
