RJ Rithaudeen: Two MP’s close to Anwar told me they’re ashamed of him

Two PKR MPs have since confirmed that a private meeting, held by six MPs late this afternoon, concluded that supporting Anwar would offer no guarantee to them that their welfare would be taken care of once UMNO comes into the picture. Source (pic): TTF

In an apparent attempt at reassuring Members of Parliament (MPs) that he is still in control, Anwar told reporters today that he had numbers on his side to assume the coveted role of Prime Minister.

But not only is this a lie, TTF revealed early this afternoon that a significant number of PKR MPs have become “completely disillusioned” with Anwar and are no longer convinced that he will honour his promises to them once he becomes Prime Minister.

One MP who spoke to me said this:

“If he can do this to Azmin, his most trusted partner, he can do this to anybody.

“When he was accused of sodomy twice, we all stood by him. Even when the courts found him guilty, everyone denied he was guilty. Even Azmin.

“Now (he does this)…where is his sense of appreciation to us,” said the MP who did not wish to be named.

AMPANG: A report by the New Straits Times Online today revealed that 28 PKR leaders signed a statement criticising party president Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim for suggesting that his deputy, Dato’ Seri Azmin Ali, resign in the event the Haziq sex clips are proven genuine.

According to the report, the 28 labelled Anwar’s statement yesterday as inappropriate and accused him of making speculative assertions.

“He (Anwar) should be focusing on the key issue here which is that there is an organised attempt to use gutter politics to bring down political leaders.

“He should be more concerned about the criminal offences committed by this group who have systematically and widely distributed a video displaying sexual acts,” the statement read.

Shit hit the fan yesterday when Anwar’s pot shot at Azmin drew a bitchy response from the latter, who told newsmen that the PKR president needed “to look at the man in the mirror.”

In an apparent attempt at reassuring Members of Parliament (MPs) that the heated exchange would not derail an already-derailed attempt at ousting Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Anwar told reporters today that he had numbers in terms of MP-support to assume the coveted role of Prime Minister.

Yesterday, TTF posted:

The exchange (between Anwar and Azmin) means team Anwar and team Azmin, already split on account of Azmin’s loyalty towards Mahathir, are officially at war.

This is set to pose a huge problem for PKR, as close to half of the party’s most strategic assets are currently being controlled by Azmin through beneficial associations involving several Members of Parliament (MPs).

This includes the hundreds of millions that a Chinese tycoon handed over to Anwar which Anwar then passed on to Azmin for purposes of investment through Selangor’s Menteri Besar Incorporated and Darul Ehsan Investment Group.

Given that Azmin’s and Mahathir’s joint mission is to prevent Anwar from becoming Prime Minister, there is no reason for Azmin to want to patch things up with Anwar as it would be wiser for him to transfer control of these assets to Mahathir along with the loyalty of the MPs who soiled their hands with proceeds from the assets.

Not only will the dirty books on these MPs now come in handy, Azmin could also use Anwar’s open aversion towards him as basis to lure pro-Anwar MPs to his side by telling them that Anwar, a convicted sodomite, was wrong to publicly discuss the Haziq sex videos.

Two PKR MPs have since confirmed that a private meeting, held by six pro-Anwar MPs late this afternoon, concluded that supporting Anwar would offer no guarantee that their welfare would be taken care of once UMNO comes into the picture.
