Report claims Pardons Board did not discuss Najib’s application

FMT has quoted an unnamed source as saying that the Pardons Board did not discuss former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s application for a royal pardon.

According to the portal, the source denied reports claiming that the board, chaired by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, would discuss Najib’s application today.

On March 31, a separate five-member Federal Court bench dismissed Najib’s bid to review his conviction and sentence in a majority decision.

According to the portal, the source denied reports claiming that the board, chaired by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, would discuss Najib’s application today.




Najib was jailed last year after the Federal Court upheld his conviction in the SRC International case.

The former Pekan MP was convicted in July 2020 on charges of abuse of power, money laundering and criminal breach of trust over SRC funds amounting to RM42 million. He was sentenced to 12 years’ jail and fined RM210 million.

After the Court of Appeal dismissed his appeal in December 2021, he began serving his prison term on Aug 23, 2022 following the Federal Court’s decision to uphold the original conviction and sentence.
