1. The outcome of the “emergency” OIC meeting on Gaza being under siege for more than 35 days and counting is extremely disappointing.
2. The OIC is the second largest inter-governmental organisation after the United Nations (UN), yet they have failed to provide an effective alternative action to the veto of the United States at the UN, which effectively puts Israel above international law.
3. To date, the continued atrocities of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) that have massacred more than 11,000 civilians in Gaza, with 40% of them being children.
4. Despite self-professing to be the “collective voice of the Muslim world” that works to “safeguard and protect the interests of the Muslim world”, the OIC was not able to agree on any kind of concrete resolution to limit the Israeli aggression on the long-oppressed and displaced Muslim Palestinians.
5. The OIC rejected a proposal to jointly freeze diplomatic relations with Israel and/or the United States or even prevent transfer of US military equipment to Israel from US bases in the Middle East.
6. Furthermore, despite controlling more than 75% of global oil reserves, the OIC did not agree to explore possible temporary supply sanctions pending a ceasefire. In fact, the OIC could not even muster the dispatch of a joint delegation to the US to push for such a ceasefire.
7. With such ineffectiveness, it is clear that the global Muslim population cannot depend on the OIC to even safeguard the basic human rights of helpless Muslim children, even if they are being slaughtered by the thousands while undergoing treatment in hospitals.
8. The OIC has definitely proven themselves to be at the very pinnacle of hypocrisy.
