“There is no better guarantee for our future than the TN50 generation, and BTN is necessary to incorporate patriotism and the fighting spirit in them”
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s next generation needs a strong dose of patriotism and fighting spirit to protect and develop the nation, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The Prime Minister noted that government agencies like the National Civics Bureau (BTN) were necessary to develop the right frame of mind and spirit among Malaysians.
“BTN was created with specific roles and objectives, including developing Malaysians to continue to lead, and a government that can last long because any agenda for the nation needs time.
“It still has a role today in developing the TN50 generation, the millennials who are vastly different from their ancestors,” he said at the BTN Hari Raya open house Saturday.
An estimated 3,000 guests attended the open house, including representatives from 11 other agencies under the Prime Minister’s Department.
In his brief address, Najib thanked the BTN for its services but reminded its people that their job was far from over.
“Our young generation has not gone through the struggles of their forefathers, like the fight for Independence.
“They are luckier because they are more educated, and they are more educated because of a government that fought for a better future for them.
“There is no better guarantee for our future than the TN50 generation, and BTN is necessary to incorporate patriotism and the fighting spirit in them,” he said, adding that the agency’s task will continue through the next general election, and for more elections after.
