THE THIRD FORCE
Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) “top dog” Dr Mahathir Mohamad has just set the rules. In a bolt from the blue, the former premier told newsmen today that the DAP could not possibly control the pact as it was dominated by three Malay based parties.
Ironically, the party he represents, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), has yet to prove its mettle and has zero representation in the August house. Yet, he anointed himself the coalition’s “top dog.”
In what amounted to a testimony of his superiority, the former premier spoke on behalf of PKR and Amanah, saying leaders of the Malay based parties would never allow themselves to be led around by the DAP.
“In Pakatan Harapan there are three parties which are led by Malays, and between them they have enough seats to be the majority [in the coalition].
“DAP is not the majority. If we combine Amanah and PKR, they have more MPs than DAP. It would be stupid of them if they choose DAP [to lead],” told a press conference at PPBM’s headquarters.
And yet, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin insists that Mahathir isn’t the guy calling the shots, that in Pakatan Harapan, the principal of consensus applies.
But Mahathir’s statement goes a long way to prove that Mahathirism is well and alive, that Pakatan Harapan is indeed the new face of Mahathirism as The Third Force had previously indicated.
