“So you see, if anyone is to be blamed for the suffering Penangites endured on the 4th of November 2017, it is the Chief Minister himself and nobody else. So corrupt is his administration, not only does it take the lives of Penangites for granted, it takes all the credit for assistance rendered by the federal. And yet, Hannah Yeoh wants you to believe that the Najib regime is so corrupt that it expects Guan Eng to beg before rendering assistance to him”
THE THIRD FORCE
The following was an entry Hannah Yeoh made in her Facebook page yesterday:
According to her, the people of Malaysia are paying taxes for nothing as the money is used to sustain Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak’s corrupt regime in Putrajaya. She said this when commenting on a post by KiniTV that bore the caption Najib: Guan Eng almost cried begging for federal government aid. The DAP evangelist was implying that Penangites had the right to be assisted by the federal as they too were paying taxes.
Yes, it is true that Penangites, just like every other Malaysian from every other state, are paying taxes and are entitled to assistance from the federal. But the real question we ought to be asking ourselves is this – when the federal does extend help to the Lim Guan Eng administration, what does the Chief Minister do?
He denies that help was ever rendered.
For instance, when the 2016 Auditor-General’s report was first made public, Guan Eng declared that his administration effected a 95% reduction in state debt owing to prudence in management and the principles of Competency, Accountability and Transparency (CAT) it went by. But the minute Dato’ Abdul Rahman Dahlan put the facts and figures on the table, the Chief Minister was forced to concede the truth.
And the truth is, the DAP-led government was able to reduce debt owing to a 2011 water restructuring agreement it entered with the federal. Under the terms of this agreement, the state was permitted 45 annual lease payments of RM14.56 million to cover the RM655.24 million it owned Putrajaya.
But that’s not all.
In the same agreement, the federal government also agreed to extend a RM1.2 billion grant to expand the Mengkuang dam, a gesture that runs contrary to claims that the federal does not do anything for Penang. At least, that is what Malaysiakini reported Dahlan as saying on the 1st of August 2017. Now, what does all of this tell you?
It tells you that Guan Eng is a natural born liar.
And the lies never stop – on the 8th of November 2017, he told newsmen that the Prime Minister never offered assistance during floods that almost submerged a large chunk of Penang island four days earlier. According to him, the RM150 million allocation for flood mitigation that Najib announced was way overdue as it had already been announced under a previous Malaysia Plan.
However, what he failed to mention was that the delay in channeling that fund was not the fault of federal, but the result of his administration’s failure to honour certain terms of an agreement (READ ABOUT IT HERE). These terms were read out to a press conference by Jagdeep Singh Deo himself on the 2nd of March 2016 and isn’t something Guan Eng wasn’t aware of.
So you see, if anyone is to be blamed for the suffering Penangites endured during the 4th of November 2017 floods, it is the Chief Minister himself – so corrupt is he and his administration, not only do they take the lives of Penangites for granted, they take all the credit for assistance rendered by the federal to the people of Penang. And yet, Hannah Yeoh wants you to believe that the Najib regime is so corrupt that it expects Guan Eng to beg before offering assistance to him.
What a bitch.
