“To me, you’re more a Cheat Minister than you are the Chief Minister of Penang. From where I stand, you don’t have a shred of moral fibre left in your body and are the perfect personification of human failure. Not only are you an utter embarrassment to the Chinese community, the people of Penang have just about had it with your antics and are sure as hell going to punish you for betraying them”
THE THIRD FORCE
Last Friday, Lim Guan Eng took potshots at UMNO by accusing its leaders of waging “vitriolic attacks against (billionaire-tycoon Robert) Kuok.” In what was clearly an attempt to shift the conversation away from the RM6.3 billion elephant sitting – or probably dead from boredom – in his office, the Chief Minister stood true to his roots when he attacked UMNO instead of his father, who, for all intents and purposes, was the real reason the Kuok polemic got out of hand.
The senior Lim needed the controversy to eclipse the spate of scandals that’s currently rocking his son’s administration in Penang. And we’re talking scandals of colossal proportions, the likes of the alleged bungalow-for-land scam deal, the Penang Undersea Tunnel kok-up, the cancer-causing illegal factory in Kampung Sungai Lembu, the landslide at Lengkok Lembah Permai and what have you. But none of this seems to bother Guan Eng as much as it does his father.
In the Chief Minister’s mind, he can get away with murder as long as you believe that the scandals are part and parcel of a ‘fake news’ campaign launched by the MACC and UMNO to ‘sabotage’ his administration. Heck, even if aliens were to hover above Penang and take a dump the size of a football field along Jalan Pinhorn, he’ll tell you that the mothership was MACC built while the mission was UMNO funded.
Yes, it wouldn’t matter to Guan Eng if he broke procurement guidelines when awarding a RM6.3 billion project to the financially deficient Consortium Zenith BUCG Sdn Bhd or if the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) conspired with him and members of the Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce (PCCC) to reap illegal benefits from the wanton ‘donation’ of state land. The minute you unravel a corruption-scandal involving his administration, he immediately goes on the offensive and starts to pour untold scorn over anything that has UMNO or the MACC written to it.
That explains how Dato’ Seri Wee Ka Siong became known within the Chief Minister’s circles as a “political serial liar.” The MCA deputy president was ‘guilty’ of disclosing that the main contractor of the tunnel project, CRCC, had long stopped work due to the SPV’s failure to remit 97 percent of its obligations, said to be worth some RM66 million. Never mind that Wee presented rock solid proof of activity that seemed to border on criminal irregularity – to the Chief Minister, if the information came from Barisan Nasional, it was fake.
Believe me, that’s how low this Guan Eng fellow is willing to go.
Which is ironical, considering that the Chief Minister is himself the ideal personification of fake news and probably the biggest liar there is in Penang. This becomes manifest when one considers a bombshell announcement his administration published via a 2013 edition of it’s official gazette, Buletin Mutiara.
In that edition, state secretary Farizan Darus went on record to say that not only did the SPV register a paid-up capital of RM4.6 billion, both Zenith Construction Sdn Bhd and CRCC jointly held a 70 percent stake in the conglomerate. However, on the 7th of February 2018, Guan Eng denied that CRCC was ever a shareholder of the SPV.
If that’s the case, then, why has he yet to issue a formal retraction of the Buletin Mutiara report? Tell me, is the Chief Minister not responsible for what is stated in the state’s official gazette? Assuming that he refuses to issue a retraction after reading this article, is he not guilty of spreading disinformation and fake news, the very kind he falsely accused the guys at UMNO of disseminating?
And while he’s at it, I dare him to retract the false allegations he repeatedly hurled against the MACC in relation to the tunnel kok-up. Not only did he falsely accuse the anti-graft agency of practicing double-standards, he mislead the people of Penang into thinking that the MACC was “conducting a politically motivated investigation” by recording a statement from P. Ramasamy. According to him, the agency had no reason to involve Ramasamy as the latter’s portfolio in the state government was unrelated to the tunnel project.
That may be so.
However, the Chief Minister deliberately ignored the fact that Ramasamy was appointed by him to serve as member of the Penang Transport Council (PTP). The membership, which took effect on the 14th of June 2016, is set to expire on the 18th of May 2018 (SEE FULL LIST HERE). Under the circumstances, Ramasamy is as yet a member of a council tasked with advising the state government and relevant authorities on all issues related to transportation in the state.
Correct?
So tell me, how can Ramasamy not be responsible for the undersea kok-up no matter how remote or substantial that responsibility may be? Already, many are convinced that the Deputy Chief Minister has an IQ equals his age or perhaps even that of a toddler. Factor that with the truckloads of rubbish he’s spewing these days, and you’ll be convinced that this guy may not even have a brain to begin with. Seriously, how can he not know anything about the tunnel project when he’s the one refuting Wee’s claims every other day with estate level logic and rhetoric that seems toddy charged?
See where I’m going with this?
Lie after lie after lie, and yet, the Chief Minister is accusing UMNO of hurting Kuok by dishing out fake news. Take it from me, Guan Eng, it isn’t as if we hate Robert Kuok or are against him in any way. On the contrary, some of us simply voiced our concerns over issues we felt the billionaire needed to be made aware of. There may have been tantrums thrown and barbs traded, granted, but we most certainly do not hate Kuok and recognise his contributions to the nation.
But we hate you.
To me, you’re more a Cheat Minister than you are the Chief Minister of Penang. From where I stand, you don’t have a shred of moral fibre left in your body and are the perfect personification of human failure. Not only are you an utter embarrassment to the Chinese community, the people of Penang have just about had it with your antics and are sure as hell going to punish you for betraying them.
Seriously, try jumping off the rooftop of Komtar and see if they care…
