Grand coalition ‘ok’, but Anwar can go fly kites

“AMANAH should also be prepared to declare that Anwar was the cause of everything that went wrong with Pakatan Harapan and make it absolutely clear that leaders of Pakatan Harapan agree to Mahathir becoming chairman of the intended grand coalition”

Parti Amanah Negara (AMANAH) is prepared to play the role of peacemaker and be the bridge to bring together opposition parties to form a grand coalition to face the 15th General Election (GE15), a news report read.

According to AMANAH president Mohamad Sabu, Pakatan Harapan (PH) would be able to find common ground and strengthen ties between all opposition leaders.

“If we split up, we will repeat the mistakes made by the enemy. I am sure the main parties in PH would be able to find common ground. In the political world, there are no permanent friends and permanent opponents. Instead, what remains is our struggle.

“I am ready to be the connecting bridge … for the sake of the people and this beloved country, I will do as we have done before,” he said.

I agree.

There is a need to form a new coalition, and this was first expressed by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad himself, who called for the establishment of a grand coalition that wasn’t confined to political parties but disgruntled Members of Parliament who no longer saw eye to eye with their leaders.

Given that it was Mahathir who mooted the idea, AMANAH should work hand in hand with him and quit rooting for Pakatan Harapan to take lead, as many, including WARISAN president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, have made it absolutely clear they want no part in Pakatan Harapan.

Let’s face it – Pakatan Harapan is a failed coalition, and should anyone even dream of using it as a model towards the establishment of a new “grand coalition,” that person ought to be shot or sent to an asylum.

What needs to be done is for Pakatan Harapan to be disbanded altogether, forcing component parties to sit together with Mahathir and draft plans towards the establishment of the intended “grand coalition.”

If indeed AMANAH is serious about the whole affair, the first thing it should do is openly declare that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should no longer be opposition leader, and state, in no uncertain terms, that AMANAH is prepared to disband Pakatan Harapan.

Let us not repeat the mistakes made by UMNO, PPBM and PAS that have established multiple coalitions with various permutations (in terms of participation) to hoodwink the rakyat but cannot even come together on a single cause or agree on anything.

Let us not forget that Anwar is a threat to our very existence as he is proven to be in collusions with Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak towards the establishment of a grand coalition with them!

AMANAH should also be prepared to declare that Anwar was the cause of everything that went wrong with Pakatan Harapan and make it absolutely clear that leaders of Pakatan Harapan agree to Mahathir becoming chairman of the intended grand coalition.

Otherwise, forget about the whole idea and let Mahathir work on expanding his own Third Force coalition, which he mooted some months ago, simply because he had the acumen and wisdom to do so, while leaders of AMANAH and the DAP continued to suck up to Anwar, hoping that the PKR president, who clearly has a failed track record, could somehow turn stone into gold!
