The ministry in a brief statement today, said the human rights lawyer’s departure would not affect the functions of the council, which was formed on June 9.
The statement, however, did not specify if Paulsen had resigned or had been removed. The sudden turn of events was however attributed to the former’s alleged anti-Islam views.
PAS deputy Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari had called on Muslims to oppose the appointment of Paulsen as a member of the council.
KUALA LUMPUR: Lawyer Eric Paulsen is no longer a member of the Communications and Multimedia Ministry’s consultative council.
The ministry in a brief statement today, said the human rights lawyer’s departure would not affect the functions of the council, which was formed on June 9.
“The council will continue its role in discussing and advising the ministry in its approach and policies for communication and multimedia issues in line with the objectives of the ministry,” said the statement which was issued by the ministry’s corporate communications unit.
The statement, however, did not specify if Paulsen had resigned or had been removed. The sudden turn of events was however attributed to the former’s alleged anti-Islam views.
On Monday, Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki claimed that Paulsen was reputed for statements that allegedly insulted Islam and Muslims as a whole.
He also urged Multimedia and Communications Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah to clear the air on why Paulsen had been appointed.
