Portions of a high-rise apartment project collapsed on Friday (Feb 14).
The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said two victims were found trapped underneath the debris.
“Teams from the Seputeh, Pantai and Hang Tuah fire stations have been deployed, with around 50 firefighters and officers.
“The building collapse started on the sixth floor, and the rubble is being supported on the first floor. One of the trapped victims has been rescued,” it said in a statement.
It added that rescuers are having trouble rescuing the other victim due to the unstable nature of the building currently.
“The exact number of victims involved is still being identified. Personnel on the ground are still conducting search and rescue works with the K-9 unit,” it said.
It was earlier reported that at least four people were injured in the incident.
