Bukit Aman has summoned PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for questioning over his claim that 121 Members of Parliament are supporting his bid to become the next Prime Minister.

Six police reports have been lodged against the Port Dickson MP, including by Jerantut parliamentarian Datuk Ahmad Nazlan Idris, on Oct 8. 

Recently, Anwar announced that he has obtained “strong, formidable and convincing” support from Members of Parliament to form the federal government.

He claimed to have been granted an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, to discuss the matter tomorrow.

In a statement, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Huzir Mohamed said an investigation has been initiated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, following reports on the 121 MPs published by several online portals.

“(Anwar) has been called to have his statement recorded at 11am on Oct 12, However, his private secretary informed us that he can only come at 9am on Oct 13.

“PDRM has postponed the appointment to another date,” he said.

Recently, Anwar announced that he has obtained “strong, formidable and convincing” support from Members of Parliament to form the federal government.

He claimed to have been granted an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, to discuss the matter tomorrow.

In a statement, Anwar said he will be presenting a document proving the “strong and convincing majority”.

However, a number of MPs, including those from Umno and Pas have denied supporting him.
