Anwar defends DAP, tells Malays to stop attacking the party

PKR president Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim has come out again in the DAP’s defence, this time, insisting that the Pakatan Harapan component party must not be blamed for the country’s problems.

However, he deliberately skated over the fact that if anyone is to blame for the country’s sliding economy, it should be the person who handles the finance portfolio, ie, Lim Guan Eng.

Many Malay-Muslims are blaming the DAP secretary general for the rise in cost of living and have even found support in the form of Chinese, who, for the first time in 20 years, are beginning to curse the DAP left, right and centre.

It is a known fact that Anwar, Lim Kit Siang and Guan Eng are gunning for a speedy leadership transition amid fears of a ‘reverse Chinese Tsunami’ and realisation that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has gotten too strong and is about to pounce on Guan Eng.

SUBANG JAYA: PKR president Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim has come out again in defence of the DAP, this time, insisting that the Pakatan Harapan component party must not be blamed for the country’s problems.

Speaking at a Federal Territories PKR convention, Anwar said many of the accusations hurled against the DAP by the Malay-Muslims have no basis but stopped short of specifying the accusations he was referring to.

The Malay-Muslim community has, for the past year or so, accused the DAP of slants against Islam and the Malay race, pointing to statements and materials deemed offensive to Muslims.

The statements range from the branding of the recent PAS-UMNO pact as a precursor to terrorism to the branding of UMNO as an extremist organisation.

Ironically, it is the DAP that ended up knowingly or unknowingly harbouring individuals who were attempting to revive the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a known terror organization.

Some of the statements uttered by its leaders were spoken at public ceramahs but somehow went ‘unnoticed’ by the party’s whip despite being Islamphobic and anti-Malay in nature.

These accusations are with merit, contrary to Anwar’s claim that “many of the accusations against the DAP by the Malay-Muslims have no basis.”

Anwar himself has remained tight lipped about the involvement of DAP personalities with the LTTE and even lied about the arrest of PKR members.

He deliberately skates over the fact that if anyone is to blame for the country’s sliding economy, it should be the person who handles the finance portfolio, ie, Lim Guan Eng.
