Umno leaders have been warned that the party will face disastrous consequences if certain leaders continue to push for cooperation with DAP and Anwar Ibrahim to form a new political alignment without censure.

Without naming anyone, Umno Supreme Council member Annuar Musa reminded certain leaders, who he said were acting as “spokesmen”, that the move was against the party’s official stand.

The Barisan Nasional secretary-general was making an obvious reference to Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah who had said recently that the “No DAP, no Anwar” stand was not cast in stone and was merely based on sentiments.

“If the problem requires us to do something that can benefit the rakyat, then that should be the priority. As for DAP, we as leaders must be wise in managing or dividing power, determining what can be given or done by our partners,” Tengku Razaleigh had said.

PETALING JAYA: Umno leaders have been warned that the party will face disastrous consequences if certain leaders continue to push for cooperation with DAP and Anwar Ibrahim to form a new political alignment without censure.

He also expressed his displeasure with the top leadership for not acting against these leaders who had openly defied the party’s official stand.

“Those who still adhere to the party’s ‘No DAP, No Anwar’ stand are watching the action of these leaders.

“If these people are allowed to continue spreading the idea of cooperation with the DAP and Anwar, the role of uniting the Malays will soon be taken over by another party.

“Umno grassroots members are unhappy with the move to cooperate with Anwar and DAP,” he said in his Facebook page.
