The Government of Malaysia (GoM) has left it to the police to continue investigations into the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim who was killed following a riot at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Subang Jaya, last year.

According to a report by the Malay Mail Online (MMO), Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the GoM accepted the ruling of the inquest conducted by the Coroner’s Court yesterday that the fireman’s death was the result of a crime committed by more than two or three unknown persons.

GBN welcomes the move and hopes that the police will consider every aspect of the case, beginning with allegations that a lawyer associated with One City Development Sdn Bhd (One City) had arranged for thugs to threaten the temple’s committee.

The president of the Malaysian Bar, Abdul Fareed Abdul Gafoor, can assist with investigations since the lawyer in question is a member of the Bar and is said to have associations with BGMC International Limited, a company that got listed in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on the 9th of August 2017.

SUBANG JAYA: The Government of Malaysia (GoM) has left it to the police to continue investigations into the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim who was killed following a riot at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Subang Jaya, last year.

“I believe the police will investigate this case in detail and in the best possible way to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice,” he said in a statement on his official Facebook page today.

TTF hopes that investigations will begin with the true cause of the melee, which includes a long-standing dispute between members of the temple committee that escalated over a 31-year span, beginning with the sale of the land on which the temple is built to Sime Darby.

On the 18thof December 2018, TTF posted:

Several injunctions and verdicts later, a RM1.5 million compensation agreement was reached in 2014 between land developer One City Development Sdn Bhd (One City) and several of the temple’s caretakers.

The agreement became a point of contention ever since between two rival factions, each claiming that its head is the temple’s rightful chairman.

Things got out of hand when a lawyer serving in one of the developer’s companies arranged for a bunch of thugs to threaten the temple’s committee.

The matter was quickly turned into a racial affair by Ganabatirau when the DAP exco wrote in his Facebook that the thugs were Malay-Muslims.

Instead of reprimanding the exco, Waytha added worsened the situation by alleging that the Subang Jaya IPD dragged its feet in getting to the temple.

But according to police personnel I spoke to, Waytha had yet to get in touch with the IPD at the time he issued the statement.

In other words, he lied.

Despite knowing how high emotions were flying, he accused the IPD of issuing false statements regarding the cause of the melee.

Waytha claimed that the police only arrived one hour 45 minutes after some gangsters were spotted in the vicinity of the temple while the FRU (Federal Reserve Unit) showed up some 100 minutes later.

However, according to the (then) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun, the police were at the scene ten minutes after receiving a tip-off regarding some 50 or so men seen loitering around.

A separate statement by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad affirmed that the riots were criminal in nature and not racially or religiously motivated.

The police need to look into all this and determine the identity of the lawyer who is alleged to have arranged for thugs to threaten the temple’s committee.

It is essential to determine also if there is a certain DAP politician with vested interests in One City and MCT Berhad, One City’s parent company.

The president of the Malaysian Bar, Abdul Fareed Abdul Gafoor, can also assist with investigations since the lawyer in question is a member of the Bar and is said to have associations with BGMC International Limited, a company that got listed in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on the 9th of August 2017.

It would be easy for Fareed to zero in on lawyers with links to these companies.
